Actually, if he changes the name servers for the web host before the two weeks is up, you won't know you are on the new site, But this is an active forum so there will be some posts or threads that don't move.

Saterday, this saterday, Feb. 7, I will be changing nameservers. While the change is going on, I will be doing another backup of the forum, then shutting the forum down. If the forum is running when you come online, we've eather already moved, or I haven't shut it down yet.

I think I'll do my last posting on Friday, then hold my breath for you all day Saturday. Then I'll log on Sunday and see how it went.

The forum is actually up and running nicely on the other server. No need to hold your breath. I just have to backup this forums posts and add them to the new server. Then change the address of the website. That's it. The hard part is done.

I just knew threat would work.

Trucker, if it's not too much trouble, could you post an announcement when the backup/move starts, then a reply to it when it's over? That way, folks can avoid posting notes that would otherwise get lost in the transition. Thanks!

Once I shut the forum down, no one will be able to post. You'll know when the internet has found the new site when it's no longer closed. It's the only way I can think of to make this move without losing any posts. A pita yes, but works.
