I'm Don. I'm generally an occasional poster. I live in Michigan, and am an Associate Professor of Philosophy. My favorite concept in science fiction is that of parallel worlds, but I like time travel as well. In response to the request for suggestions of books and movies involving time travel, I would recomment Tim Powers, The Anubis Gates and Donnie Darko. I'm a fan of, among many others, Orson Scott Card's Enderseries and David Brin's Uplift series and, on the fantasy side, George R. R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice, Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, Raymond R. Feist's Riftwar Saga and related books, especially the Empirebooks that he cowrote with Janny Wurts, and Roger Zelazny's Amberbooks. So far as television goes, I am especially a fan of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I am new to both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, having watched only what has been released on DVD up to this point.

Hey, Donald, as it was I who was the requestor for info, I thank you for suggestions. I have read Tim Powers... have you read THE TIME SHIPS by Stephen Baxter? A sequel to THE TIME MACHINE. Serious Sci-Fi, not gimmicky... very good stuff. Not a fantasy buff...

Hi. I'm an exile from the Exile forums. Are the folks here friendly?
Oh, I'm also Australian (which seems to be a problem in some places right now :scratchhead: ) I'm a bit of a scifi fan when I get the opportunity.
Trust no-one
