Howdy......whew......I fianlly got my new computer....DSL and all the bells and whistles. Now if I only knew how to use them
I do like this new computer. Verizon DSL leaves a lot to be desired but, they are the only game in town.
Lots of things have been happening and trying to catch up with all that's gone on since I've been gone is going to be difficult. I'll give it the old college try, though.
Great to be back.
See ya on-line
Oh.......and if your coming out for the Grand Slam.....see ya at the Con.

Glad you are back. You aren't the lonesome stranger tho. We had another who was gone due to a virus.
It's good to have you both back.

Yes welcome back, Iswot! And I was the one with the virus.
We seem to have gotten rid of the virus, but can't seem to get rid of the annoying pop-ups even though I have at least one pop-up blocker. I've been told I may have to wipe the hard drive and start fresh.

Thanks, and welcome back, too.
Gosh wipe your haed drive and start fresh. Seems a tad drastic. Hope it doesn't come to that.

Before going to that drastic measure, Take a look at
Hijack this
Be really careful with it tho, as it brings up everything that is running on your computer. I used it to get rid of an annoying spyware popup app that was running on my puter. It worked really well. Just be really careful that you don't delete anything that your computer needs to run.

I really hate it when software give that warning. Like how am I supposed to know? A program like Quicken (based on my personal experience) can wrap itself around many commands on a HD to suit its own purpose. Remove Quicken can stop a computer in it's tracks. I should have just reformatted my HD and reinstalled but I didn't know, at that time, just how destructrive "legal" software can be.

The good thing is that most popup programs are distinguished from other programs by their names. You are correct about quicken. Legal programs shouldn't do that. The nice thing about hijack this is that it has a button to press that tells you just what the program is.
It's just time consuming at first.

I have never been as prolific a poster as many of you, but so you probably never even noticed my absence, but I, too, am back after an absence of several months, not because of any computer problems, but because my life became so busy that I wasn't able to spend any time online, and the longer you are away, the longer it takes to try to catch up!
