NASA wanted to call its first flight capable shuttle the "Constitution", but fans of a TV show clamored for this.
(Anybody what doesn't get this one, we'll find a red shirt for you to wear.

Johns Hopkins operates this orbiting observatory for NASA.
NASA had planned to have a shuttle dock with this and push it into a higher orbit, but ran out of time.
In 1964 four Soviet craft called Elektrons were sent up to measure this radiation belt.

I guess it could go for any of the four questions, couldn't it?
The name of the first shuttle.
Now the funny has all been sucked out of it...

Now that you mention it, I've been watching the season one DVDs just about every night for the past couple of weeks. I just finished "The Keeper".
As fate would have it, this is my first exposure to LiS. It never aired in syndication where I grew up. All I remember seeing a lot of as a kid were Star Trek, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, and Rin-Tin-Tin.

Different thought. If the prototype shuttle had been named Constitution, the first space-worthy one might very well have been Enterprise, a Constitution-class orbiter, which would have been very
.
I always thought we got cheated by naming the only one that would never go into space Enterprise.
But then again, if it had, we would have been commemorating the one year anniversary of the loss of the Enterprise last month, which, though superficial, seems even more depressing.
