I'll be away for a few days

Post by AnneB » Mon Jan 29, 2007 10:16 am

I'm having surgery on my shoulder in the morning at 10:20 eastern time. They are calling it a frozen shoulder, probably because I can't move it very far. ohdear.gif And when I went last Wednesday for my preop visit, I had an EKG that showed a previous heart attack - something I have no knowledge of. Had an emergency consultation with a cardiologist Thursday morning and a stress test on Friday. Found out today that I am an "acceptable risk" for surgery, but not sure what that means. I guess I'll have to see the cardiologist later to see what the hell is wrong with my heart.

You all probably won't hear from me tomorrow or maybe the next day too. Have to go to therapy on Wednesday morning, but I'm having a nerve block after surgery so it won't be painful.

My brother was recently told he's had two or possibly three minor strokes sometime during his life but they can't pinpoint it. He thinks they're nuts and I think he's right.

Take care Anne. You'll be in my thoughts. And no pinching the male interns on their bottoms! Or anywhere else for that matter.

Thanks for all the prayers and hugs. The doctor lied about the nerve block; it's already worn off. Now I'm back to being apprehensive about therapy this morning. Doctor says it was all arthritis, rotator cuff was fine. I have a TENS unit attached and a machine that pumps ice water around it, but it hurts like hell right now.

I'm glad it's less damage then originally feared. OTOH I'm a big fan of physical therapy. It's helped me over some past painful problems and the best thing is I learned how to continue some of the exercises to prevent a recurrence.

Well, that and some Jack Daniels.
