And IMNSHO the original version of "War of The Worlds" he appeared in was far superior to the Tom Cruise version. The original told a story while the Cruise version had Tom and special effects. :nano:

Oh, I hear you on that one. Gene Barry's War of the Worlds was by far the better movie!!! And I didn't see the Cruise thing....because I knew it would be like you said....Cruise and special effects!
When I hear War of the Worlds.....it's the Gene Barry movie that I first think about. That was a classic.

I must be too young. I don't remember this actor. :outtahere:

I have to agree, the original had a much better story, and...the new one had no real story, but both were still great movies to watch.

Well, Truck, if you've seen the original then you 'remember' Gene Barry. He was the scientist that had been fishing when he and his friends saw the 'comet' and then he went to the small town near by, met up with the army.....etc, etc.......and ran off with the Preacher's Niece after he and most of the army were devastated by the space ships that came out of the 'comet'.
