Back on the subject, some of the photos from Japan I've been promising are ready!
I finally got some of my pics organized and uploaded to Facebook, along with captions so you can tell what you’re looking at.
First off, to get you oriented (no pun intended, Henry!
)... I was working in a town called Iwakuni, which is about 500 miles west-southwest of Tokyo. Take a look at this map:

Follow the green line west from Tokyo and you'll eventually see Hiroshima, then a short distance later, Miyajima. Another equally short distance along the coast beyond Miyajima (but not labeled on the map) is Iwakuni, where I was working for 10 days in May and 32 days in July and August.
Here's a phone screencap of a map of the local area from when I was there:

When I went in May, I only had one day off. We went to Miyajima island and climbed Mt. Misen:

In July, I also had little time off. But we were working early shifts, usually starting at 5am. So one Saturday we took off at 1pm and went back to Miyajima, since one of my coworkers had never been there:

In August, I had a Sunday off so I went to Hiroshima for the day (note that some of the pics in this album are a bit graphic wrt to the bombing and its effects):
