Brian, just got a chance to look at your pics...wow...amazing...what kind of camera did you use?

Thanks, Ael. The camera's actually a few years old now, I'm thinking about getting a new one.

It's a Sony DSC-H5, 7.2 megapixels, 12X optical zoom.

The huge optical zoom is why I bought it. Once you start using digital zoom, you're fractioning the resolution each time you zoom more. Getting as much zoom as you can optically is important. And I always take pics in full resolution. You can always reduce a pic, but you can never go up. The originals for these are about 3MB each. They're actually a lot better than what you see there. Facebook's compression leaves a lot to be desired.

That's an eastern toilet.

It's um.. interesting.. learning to use it, to say the least.

Fortunately, most places have western facilities, and even more civilized, all the hotels I stayed in off-base (four different ones, over both trips) had bidets. You mostly find the eastern variety away from the cities, like that one, which was the last pit-stop before the mountain climb, and there was no other alternative.

As fate would have it, I had just a day or two before looked them up on the internet, so at least I knew which way to face.

Did you not get snow? We were watching something on the Weather Channel and my hubby said it was in San Diego.
