The process before that was that they created a Facebook group with vague information about forming a flash mob in Orlando. We posted our emails on that page to join a mailing list, so any detailed announcements, practice videos, location information, etc., would not be through FB where it might get leaked. A few days before practice, they sent us these links:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4yld0aXdK4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO-9yC6Hlwo

But it's really impractical to learn anything from a video, so most people (including me) came to the rehearsals cold. The Tuesday/Wednesday rehearsals were "recommended" and Friday was "required", though I don't know how anyone could learn all that in one rehearsal period. I'm glad I did all three.

Each night, I would go home and write down the choreography I could remember, and refine it from day to day. I wound up with a five-page document:
"Let's Begin" four times as the groups enter, find personal space, face front, cheer.
This takes four 8-counts, starting with the percussion.
.
Lyric starts, "Everybody say..."
8-count RBack/LBack/RFrontWait/LBack/RBack/LFrontWait/RKnee/Pivot/Together (now facing right). - "Paaartay"
8-count RBack/LBack/RFrontWait/LBack/RBack/LFrontWait/RKnee/Pivot/Together (now facing rear). - "Paaartay, everybody say"
8-count RBack/LBack/RFrontWait/LBack/RBack/LFrontWait/RKnee/Pivot/Together (now facing left). - "Paaartay"
(for each of these, arms are out, hands into chest on moves , scissor out on Waits, left sweeps over head to right on Pivot)
.
8-count to back up into hands-on-shoulders position. - "Paaartay" lyric
.
4-count Windmill. (ones, then twos, threes and fours following) “Welcome to Spring Fiesta in the Park!”
4-count Point Right Toe, arms down. (by groups, one per count)
4-count Wiggly Wave, feet togeher, hands on knees (by groups, one per count)
4-count hold, hands on knees.
.
8-count return to personal space. - as “Don’t Stop Believing” opening starts, “Rock your hands up in the air”.
.
4-count 3 step turn Right, Jump up with jazz hands. - "Rock your hands"
4-count 3 step turn Left, Jump up with jazz hands. - "Up in the air"
.
4-count stomp/sweep/stomp/stomp/stomp/stomp. - "Rock your hands"
4-count stomp/sweep/stomp/stomp/stomp/stomp. - "Up in the air"
4-count thigh/hand slaps. - "Rock your hands"
4-count line up for Ticks. - "Up in the air"
.
16-count Clock Ticks (top to bottom, four fours). - as "Don't Stop Believing" lyrics start
4-count back to personal space.
4-count hands on knees.
8-count ripple front to back.
.
8-count circle your space Right with right hand up. - as MLK says "I have a dream"
8-count circle your space Left with left hand up. - “free at last, free at last”
.
4-count Power turn Right, both hands up.
4-count Power turn Left, both hands up.
4-count Power turn Right, both hands up.
4-count Power turn Left, both hands up.
.

Software giant Oracle contacted us and asked if we would invade their user conference "Collaborate 11" at the Orlando Convention Center on Tuesday, so we did an encore of the mob that we did in the park. We had a MUCH smaller group of flashers (mobbers?), it taking place at noon on a weekday (and we all had to learn the extra "rump shaker" part  that the seniors did in the park), but it was so much fun.

I haven't seen any 'official' video yet, but this is an amateur video that hit the web, and got more than 10,000 views in less than a day:

http://www.epicviral.com/727/collaborat ... sh-mob.php

I should be easy to spot in this one. I'm the rhythmless hobbit in black, behind the little lady in red.

Flash mobbing a techy convention, pros and cons:

CON: They're a hard audience to draw in, not exactly the "let loose and have" fun types.

PRO: By the time we ran out of the hall and back to our practice space, Twitter was already abuzz with glowing reviews. By the time I had driven back to my office to return to work, videos were already appearing on YouTube.

Did you get a phone number for the little lady in red? Too young? How 'bout the lady in pink in front of her?
Well, one thing I can say is you absolutely have more rhythm than I do.

The little lady in red was a bit, shall we say, "mature" for me. She was talking about all the moves she had in the disco era.

The blonde in heels in front of her was gorgeous, and I was a bit, shall we say, "mature" for her.

;)

You're either too young or too old! So what you best start doing is lie about your age.
