Here comes Hurricane Jeanne. I'll let you know how it goes.
Four hurricanes hitting Florida in one season. They say that hasn't happened in more than a century.
This'll be three in six weeks for me! I've lived here all my life and I've never seen anything like this.

I'm probably a bit older than you and I don't remember any one portion of the East coast and Gulf area being hit so consistently. Up in the NYC area we used to watch for the hurricanes coming up the coast and our "red alert" was Cape Hatteras in the Carolinas. Usually East of there and we'd be fine but if the Hat got hit we could be pretty sure we'd be hit also.
Some would go over land around the same area, peter out and become just a real bad rain and wind storm. But no Him-a-cane.
Our best to all you guys.

Okay, it's gone. 8) Another LONG, UN-restful weekend. You know, the odds against five (I forgot Bonnie before -- Bonnie, Charley, Frances, Ivan, & Jeanne) storms hitting the state in one season are pretty high. But three within six weeks? All three on weekends? All three arriving overnight? Astronomical!
I lost more shingles, and finally started getting roof leaks in my bedroom. It never dripped, just seeped and made a stain in the ceiling. I poked a hole in the ceiling to let it drain, but nothing came out. I suspect the leak is minor and only occurred when there was high wind to blow the water up under the exposed shingles.
Okay, enough! I get it! "Don't fool with Mother Nature." No more!

With this fourth hurricane, Florida has now tied the record for most hurricane strikes by any state in one season. (Texas has also taken four direct hits in one year.)
Now...this might sound crazy...but, I'm actually kinda hoping for just one more hit by the end of the season -- just so we can have the record!!
It doesn't have to be a big one. I just want a little Cat-1 to hit somewhere up north -- say, Jacksonville? -- just cuz thast the only region that hasn't taken much of a hit by the other four.
Just one more piddly hurricane (emphasis on piddly ) and the record is ours!! Whaddya say, Florida?! 8)

Ditto.......trucker2000 wrote:I'm glad you guys made it thru ok.
There was a 6.0 earthquake in the central valley (San Andreas fault), here. (Oh, yeah.....California....did I have to say that? ) THEY say that it is not a precursor to another one...... One can only hope!
